Delivers Products to an Island By A Drone – Drops With A Parachute

According to News Web Easy, there are about 100 people live at the island called Sagano Island in Goto city, Nagasaki and many of them are elderly people. Right now there is one shop sells daily necessities, however, the shop is due to close down in this December.

As a result of that, foods has been delivered to the island from a supermarket at the Fukue Island by a drone. A company at the Fukue Island started this service on 26th of this month.

The delivery schedule are meant to be three times a week, four times a day. A box in which products in has a parachute attached and the drone drops the box from sky. And the drone goes back by taking a same route. The drone flies at 100 km per hour.

The person who received the products said 「This is a good idea because if the shop at the island is to close our life will be inconvenient. 」

My thought

Aging is the biggest issue in Japan. The population of elderly people has reached the highest this year. And the island like this has many elderly people remain and perhaps younger generation tends to get out of islands to find the better life. This service is a great to way to help elderly person in a remote areas.
