A Japanese Children’s Song – 童謡 [Aka Tonbo] “A Red Dragonfly” (あかとんぼ)

It is already mid November. Christmas is round the corner. Autumn leaves have started falling. I remember I used to see a red dragonfly when I was a child in Japan but I do not see them often in this country. They usually fly as soon as the summer changes to Autumn so I guess this is not a right time to see them anyway. Today’s children song is called [Aka Tonbo] means a red dragonfly.

Aka tonbo (A Red Dragonfly)

I have found a video with the English translation below. It is very simple tune but a very beautiful tune.

Japanese lyric in Romaji

Japanese Lyric
1.Yuyake koyake no aka tonbo
Owarete mitano wa itu no hi ka
2.Yama no hatake no kuwa no mi
Kogago ni tsunda wa maboroshi ka
3. Jyugo de neya wa yome ni iki
Osato no tayori mo tae hateta
4. Yuyake koyake no aka tonbo
Tomatte iru yo sao no saki

Now let’s sing!

Hope you will enjoy this song with your childrenle and be able to learn some Japanese words! Please let me know if you enjoyed it or not!

THANK YOU Arigato
