The Children Enjoy The Shobuyu On The Children’s Day

According to News Web Easy, 5th of May is the Children’s Day. From long time ago there is a custom of having a shobuyu (しょうぶ湯), in which there are Iris’s leaves.

On the 1st, a kindergarten at Tokushima Prefecture held an event of shobuyu at the bathhouse/public bath near by wishing that the children will grow healthy.

The children were wearing crowns made of Iris’s leaves and washing the back of the children sitting next to with a towel. After washing their bodies they entered in the shobuyu. The children were saying like 「hot!」and enjoying smelling of the Iris’s leaves. And they sang a song called 「こいのぼり/koinobori」for the Children’s Day.

The children were saying such as「It was a fun having a shobuyu with friends」and 「Felt good!」
