Sunday J-POP (Japanese Pops) – Broken heart by Mariya Takeuchi (竹内まりや)

Broken heart

The Sunday J-pop time again! One number from Mariya Takeuchi, [Broken heart] was released in 1984. She sang in English. It will be so heartbroken to find out that your boyfriend are leaving you alone but just imagine that in fact he is leaving you for your best friend, that will be much harder to accept. Lucky I have not had that kind of experience. The sound is jazzy, pops, blends perfectly well with a saxophone. Hope you will enjoy this song.

Lyrics

I hate to sleep alone in this big brass bed
Since you have gone away with your new girlfriend
Baby I would do anything to hear your soft voice one more time
Baby I would do anything to see your face

I tried forgetting you but it ain’t no use
‘Cause you still remain the same in my broken heart
Baby I would do anything only to be your girl again
Baby I would do anything if we could get together again
Baby I would do anything for you

She was my best friend, so I lost everything
I used to think this kind of thing would never happen to me
Baby I would do anything to make the time return
Baby I would do anything if I could change your mind again
Baby I would do anything to mend this broken heart
It’s aching in the middle of the night
It’s crying over you
It’s aching in the middle of the night
It’s calling, calling your name

Honey won’t you come back now
I’ve been waiting for you
Don’t you know that I’m missing you
Missing you so much
