A Hinamatsuri (ひなまつり)

My Hina Dolls.

Today is a Gil’s day. It is a Hinamatsuri. The day displays Hina Dolls at a home and celebrate a birth of a girl in a family.

I took my prince and princess dolls from Japan to England. Many years of my Japanese family memories. In our culture this celebrate the birth of a girl. And our culture’s wish for her to grow healthy and without illness.

Plenty of our events hold spiritual meaning. We hold special meals and festivities. I treasure my Hina dolls, for although slightly discolored by time, they bring a wholeness and completeness to my life and wish fulfillment. Rewarding, empowering and pure.

These are both sacred and precious. I hold the prince and princess in my heart always. These are not wholly memories and cultural tradition. They are heritage, hope and happiness from past, present and future.
