A Japanese Children’s Song – 童謡 [Goldfish in a nap] “Kingyo No Hirune” (金魚のひるね) 

The Summer in Japan has a lots of summer festivals. The summer festivals reminds me of a game called [kingyo sukui] which means catching a goldfish. Today’s Japanese children’s song is called [kingyo no hirune].

Kinjyo no hirune 金魚のひるね /Goldfish in a nap

This song is very simple and easy to sing with your children.

First, let me explain some words.

Words

Akai – red

Bebe – a baby talk for clothes , in this case, a goldfish with red patterns

kawaii – cute/pretty

Kingyo – a goldfish

omeme – a baby talk for eyes.

Ne o samasu – wakes up

gochiso – a treat

Abuku –  foam、bubble

Hirune – a nap

Uto uto – drowsy
