Do You Know Some Japanese Greeting Words?

USEFUL DAILY EXPRESSIONS

If you have Japanese friends or visit Japan, you want to speak Japanese don’t you? I wanted to speak English when I visited UK. I introduce common expressions here!!!

  1. おはようございます。Ohayogozaimasu. Good morning!
  2. こんにちは。Konnichiwa. Hello/Good afternoon.
  3. こんばんは。Kombanwa. Good evening.
  4. さようなら。Sayonara. Good -bye. For much more formal situation Shitsurei shimasu is used.
  5. おやすみなさい。Oyasumi nasai. Good night. (before going to bed)
  6. ではまた/じゃまた。Dewa mata/ja mata. Well then…
  7. いってらっしゃい。Itte rasshai.
  8. いってきます。Itte kimasu. This is the reply to Itte rassshai.
  9. ただいま。Tadaima. Im back.
  10. お帰りなさい。Okaeri nasai. Welcome home. This is the reply to Tadaima.
  11. お元気ですか。Ogenki desu ka. How are you?
  12. どうもありがとうございます。Domo arigato gozaimasu. Thank you so much.
  13. おめでとうございます。Omedeto gozaimasu. Congratulations!
  14. どういたしまして。Do Itashimashite. You are welcome.
  15. ちょっと待ってください。Chotto matte kudasai. Wait just a moment, please.
  16. もう一度お願いします。Mo ichido onegaishimasu. Once more, please.
  17. 気をつけてください。Ki o tuskete kudasai. Take care/be careful.
  18. がんばってください。Gambatte kudasai. Do your best. To encourage someone. It is used for the different situations though.
