Japanese Sayings/Phrases/Proverb・ – Kotowaza [ことわざ] – Kasegu ni oitsuku binbo nashi

It is just like English sayings and phrases, there are Japanese sayings and phrases as well. It is called [kotowaza ことわざ].

Today’s kotowaza

稼ぐに追いつく貧乏なし Kasegu ni oitsuku binbo nashi

kasegu – to earn

oitsuku – to catch up

binbo – poor

Keep your shop, and your shop will keep you

Its meaning

If you work hard you will never end up being poor.

An example

My father is just like that Kasegu ni oitsuku binbo nashi, he leaves his home in a early morning and works hard everyday.  My mother always say [please take care of your health. ]
