Do you know a Japanese old traditional children’s game called “Daruma san ga goron da”?
I used to do this game when I was a child, in fact, most Japanese people do this game. Many years ago, originally, a devil used to count 10 seconds but later on people started saying 10 characters/letters. In Kanto rigion, “Daruma san ga koronda -だるまさんがころんだ was stared to use.
You can enjoy in a group or even with your family but more people participate a game much fun you get. Let me explain how to do it.
First, you decide a devil and the devil stands by a wall or a pole. Other people stand far away from the devil in a line and take a fist step.
Now, let’s start a game. The devil says “Daruma san ga koronda” and then turn around. While the devil is saying “Darumasan ga koronda” other people start moving forward closer to the devil. When the devil stops saying and turns around other people should stop moving on time.
The person who could not stop well will be caught by the devil. They will be called and need to hold hands with the devil.
Before the devil turns around if other people can reach the devil and break hands of people being caught from the devil by saying kitta/ cut, then everyone can run away from the devil.
After that the devil says “stop” and takes the determined number of steps. If the devil is able to touch one of the people then, the person who is touch will be a next devil.
What do you think of this game? Let me know your though.
